F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain Black Label is a rare and masterful expression of haute horlogerie, reserved exclusively for existing F.P. Journe collectors and available only through the brand’s boutiques. Encased in platinum, the most precious of metals, this timepiece features a 40mm case housing the manual-winding Calibre 1519, a movement crafted in 18k rose gold and visible through the dial’s open architecture. The dial itself is formed by blackened movement bridges with Clou de Paris guilloché, engraved and hand-painted inscriptions, and a Grand Feu enamel hour subdial at 3 o’clock. The layout showcases a vertical tourbillon cage, a remontoir d’égalité for constant force delivery, and a deadbeat seconds complication (Seconde Morte)—a trio of mechanisms that elevate precision and mechanical artistry. The tourbillon completes a rotation every 30 seconds, a departure from the traditional 60-second cycle, enhancing visual dynamism and regulating consistency. A power reserve indicator sits at 12 o’clock, while the small seconds and time display are harmoniously balanced across the dial.
